BLACK JAZZ presents “UBIZO – The Calling” [RDR015]

by admin on Aug.22, 2010, under :::TUNES, News, Releases

“UBIZO – The Calling” by Black Jazz [RDR015]
Official Release Date: 08/26/2010 *** AVAILABLE SOON ***

Tracklisting:
A1. “City Streets”
A2. “My Version”
B1. “Moon Face”
B2. “Patience”
B2. “Extraordinary Sense”

Release Notes:

With a worthy collection of solo projects already topping the RealDEEP charts under their monikers Apple Jazz & Arnold Tempo , this South African posse has now united under the placard of Black Jazz to bring us a blazing new 5-track EP entitled “UBIZO – The Calling” [RDR015].

Like a fog horn cutting through a gray gloom of ordinariness comes “City Streets”. Stabbing synths and sultry vocals snips meet murky bass-lines and swinging beats, capturing the deep house of yesteryear and reminiscent of early Prescription. Pacing the tempo and warming the vibe is “My Version”. Rich chords are underscored by a deep, resonant bass-line, riding fleecy strings & dubby vocals. Riding the heels of this groove into even sweeter & sexier territory is another beautiful tune entitled “Moon Face”. Like the clear, twinkling of moonlight on a pensive, starlit night, “Moon Face” brightens the spirits. Pensive keys and haunting female vocals are paced by gridded beats & plunky percussion, lifted even higher by swirling synths and bright leads. Clearing the hump and dropping even deeper is “Patience”, a Larry Heard-esque orchestrated masterpiece of soundscapes and rhythms. Cinematic yet soulful. Lifting us out of the depths and recharging the speakers is “Extraordinary Sense”. Clean, driving beats and hovering tones keep your mind locked in full REM while sentenced synth stabs and spoken word preach their message. Black Jazz presents “UBIZO – The Calling”.

re:search pres. the “Microscopic EP” [RDR014]

“Microscopic EP” by re:search [RDR014]
Official Release Date: 06/23/2010 ***NOW AVAILABLE***

Tracklisting:
A1. “Resonance”
A2. “Document 57″
B1. “Morphine”
B2. “8 e’s Dance Party”

Release Notes:

After phenomenal response on his first RealDEEP single entitled “On My Own” off the “Amuse Bouche EP – Vol.1″ [RDR012], emerging artist Don Clark aka re:search returns to supply us with a closer examination of his work with his first, full-length, RealDEEP release entitled “Microscopic EP” [RDR014]. His first specimen, “Resonance”, takes us deep inside the re:search sound, revealing the warm organic vibes of yester-year with a clean & technical edginess of today that should impress any discerning deep house enthusiast. Switching our scope to a higher magnification, we uncover “Document 57″. Striking synth chord progressions are mellowed by glistening bells, spaced-out horn stabs and snippy vocals making this tune a beautiful edition to those warm and breezy summer night DJ sets. Next up on slide 3 is a sample of “Morphine”. A new study suggests that the effects of “Morphine” reportedly produce intense feeling of euphoria and bliss, especially when experienced on the dance-floor after midnight. Side effects may include auditory hallucinations and loss of muscular control resulting in uncontrollable body jacking! And last but not least, re:search reveals a bit of the architecture behind his sound with “8 e’s Dance Party”. Watch your ribs, because elbows are bound to fly when re:search brings back the sounds of the basement with this full on jack beat inspired cut, chock full of rolling bass lines and tweaky, acid-esque synths. So you think you know all there is to know about Deep House, but have you done your re:search?

CESAR RAMIREZ pres. “The Heartwork EP” [RDR013]

by admin on May.05, 2010, under :::TUNES, News, Releases

“The Heartwork EP” by Cesar Ramirez [RDR013]
Release Date: 05/13/2009 ***NOW AVAILABLE***

Tracklisting:
A1. “Cabeza De Papaya”
A2. “Dark Cloud”
B1. “No Business”
B2. “Recovery”

Release Notes:
One of RealDEEP’s fastestest rising talents, Cesar Ramirez, is back with us again to deliver us a brand-new, 4 track release entitled “The Heartwork EP” [RDR013].  Immediately igniting this EP is Cesar’s “Cabeza De Papaya”, a scorching, Latin-flavored dance-floor bomb sure to get you on your feet.  Driving percussion and rolling bass-lines hurl the track forward, while playful keyboards and searing syth-stabs steer you through this spicy, body-mover.  Next up is the percussively tribal and entrancing “Dark Cloud”.  Moody keys and pianos dance enticingly over pushy congas, hi-hats & shakers, locking you into a murky & hypnotizing groove.  Like the sun after a storm, Cesar brings us “No Business”, a warm and glistening, deep house gem.  Supplying the swinging bass lines, wooly keys and haunting strings we’ve come to know so well from Cesar, this is another RealDEEP classic in the making.  Bringing us out of the depths and leaving us racing towards the finish-line is the uptempo & head-bopping track entitled “Recovery”.  The stomping kick-drum, charging pianos and ripping flute lines are fueled by spaced out, neo-disco rhythms, sending this lil’ whizzer screaming into the stratosphere and lowering the checkered flag on yet another piping hot RealDEEP release.

“AMUSE BOUCHE EP : Vol.1″ by Various Artists [RDR012]
PROMOTIONAL Release Date: 04/13/2010
Official Release Date: 04/26/2010

— Tracklisting: —
A1. re:search “On My Own”
A2. Apple Jazz “Find The Way (Tempo Sunset Mix)”
A3. Arnold Tempo “The Flute’s Punishment”
B1. Brian Gardner feat. Brenda D. “I Knew It Was You”
B2. Bjak “Old Photographs (BC Dub)”
B3. Cesar Ramirez “Water’s Edge”

Release Notes:
RealDEEP’s first ever Sampler EP brings together some seriously deep new material from fresh new faces Don Clark a.k.a. re:search and South African artist Arnold Tempo, as well as from some veteran RealDEEP recording artists, including Cesar Ramirez, Apple Jazz, Brian Gardner, and Bjak. With a small taste from some of our favorite RealDEEP artisans, you’re sure to love our first installment of the Amuse Bouche EP!

Dishing out the first bite is Chicagoan, Don Clark a.k.a. re:search, with a piece entitled “On My Own”. Warm, wooly tones and dubby synths meet fiery congas and minimalistic percussion in this ultra deep cut. With his first, solo EP coming soon on RealDEEP, this tune gives us a sweet taste of what’s to come from his kitchen. The next two dishes come to us straight out of South Africa. First is RealDEEP favorite Apple Jazz, back at it again with another slice of deep melodies and harmonies entitled “Find The Way”. Sweet and subdued rhodes sprinkled with piano solos simmered in Apple’s secret ingredients bring us this tasty treat. Spicing things up is another newcomer, Arnold Tempo. Often found cookin’ it up in the kitchen along side Apple Jazz in their homebase of Pretoria, this master chef has stepped up to the plate to serve us a fiery hot new tune called “The Flute’s Punishment”. This dark roasted and driving percussive gem keeps things on a rolling boil until Arnold steps in and “punishes” a ripping flute riff, turning the temperature on this dish up a notch. Back with us again is artist Brian Gardner featuring vocalist Brenda D. with their new tune “I Knew It Was You”. Brian’s signature chunky & warped beats send this song ripping out of the starting gates, ready to tear a hole in any dancefloor. Ripe with Prescription sounding synth stabs, mellow pads and Brenda’s beutiful vocal snips, this rich little morsel is chock full of flavor. Rolling out another recipe for love is Bjak with his addition to the mix, “Old Photographs”. Bjak explores a variety of flavors using rich pianos, dreamy rhodes and unexpected and moody transitions. Spiced up with stabbing strings, rolling basslines and dubbed-out vocal snips, this deep burner leaves your tastebuds yearning for more. Mellowing out the flavor a bit and finishing off our Amuse Bouche Sampler is blossoming RealDEEP musician Cesar Ramirez. Squeezing this little beauty in between his first release, “The Remeberance EP”, and his upcoming release, “The Heartwork EP”, Cesar brings us the single “Water’s Edge”. Rolling congas and minty basslines are topped with melancholy keys riffs which drip from this little delicacy like warm caramel. Beautifully cleansing the pallet, this cut finishes off our first sampler with a silky-smooth finish. Bon appetit!

VELOPHONE pres. “We’re All The Same” [RDR011]

by admin on Apr.09, 2010, under :::TUNES, News, Releases

VELOPHONE
“We’re All The Same” by VELOPHONE
Release Date: 04/13/2010

— Tracklisting: —
A1. “VELOPHONE Orig. Mix”
A2. “Cesar Ramirez’ Stoneflower Mix”
B1. “DOTS’ Shoegaze Strings Mix”
B2. “Daryl Cura’s Eargasmic Mix”

Release Notes:
With a sneak-peek off their upcoming full-length album, breaking new band VELOPHONE, headed by RealDEEP front man Brian (Bjak) Cullen, Janet Cruz & Jono Eiland, gives us an exclusive promotional preview of their single “We’re All The Same”. Composed of lyrics overflowing with emotional depth and melancholy undertones, “We’re All The Same” is a bitter sweet tale of a love unrequited, and the struggles “we all” go through to find the light at the end of the tunnel. With remixes by Cesar Ramirez, DOTS, and Eargasmic Recording’s Daryl Cura, our artists get the chance to tell their own renditions of this timeless tale.

Starting off the EP is the original album version of “We’re All The Same”. This funky, neo-soul flavored tune erupts with fiery, broken-beat rhythms, lush synths & super funky bassline, clavs & wah-guitar, topped off with the sweet lyrics of lead vocalist Janet Cruz. Next up we see our first remix by blossoming RealDEEP Recordings artist Cesar Ramirez. Showcasing Janet’s unique vocal style, Cesar lets the full vocal ride over stomping four-on the floor kicks and high-hats, ridden with classic-house piano riffs and drivingly playful basslines. Complete with great build-ups & breakdowns, this tune is built for the dancefloor. Next up is DOTS heartfelt and personal interpretation of this song which was, literally, written about him! DOTS’ string & synth heavy, shoegazer rendition of this single takes a very unique twist from the original and dares to break free from the obligatory constraints of the typical dance music format. Fusing together a stimulating pallet of electronic textures, DOTS mix is more heavily geared towards furnishing the listener with a greater emotional experience, and his unique examination of this song gives us a strong taste of the culmination of the sound known simply as DOTS. Rounding out the EP is Eargasmic Recordings’ head honcho, Daryl Cura with a super deep slice of Harmonie Park style house. Using snips & bits of the original vocals and synths, Daryl styles a perfect B-Side stomper which highlights a unique shade of the original and sends this EP wheeling over the RealDEEP edge! With a little something for everyone, this VELOPHONE remix project sews another important patch onto our ever-expanding quilt of RealDEEP releases.
